The director/writers really connected the front and end of the move.
Its a thoughtful, romantic comedy.
This is a text I sent my friends after watching it. “honestly really good and original for what I normally watch. It made me think about life but not in a negative way. My Friends told me about it and at first when she picks her first choice (trying not to spoil the movie) I thought my friend lied. Luckly he didn’t. One thing I don’t understand the meaning of was the aspect morning day and night with the curtain, The creative focus on that didn’t fully make sense to me. just lost on me. Would defiantly rewatch it
Eternity is honestly a really good and surprisingly original watch, especially if you do not usually go for this kind of thoughtful, afterlife-themed story. It makes you think hard about life, love, and the weight of your choices, but it does it in a warm, hopeful way rather than leaving you feeling depressed or drained. This was one of those movies where a friend’s recommendation actually paid off; for a moment early on, when Joan makes her first big choice, it really feels like the film might let you down, but by the time everything comes together you realize your friend absolutely did not lie about how good it is.
One of the strongest parts of the film is how personal it feels even though it is set in this fantastical “junction” between life and the afterlife. The situation Joan is in—having to choose what kind of eternity she wants and who she wants to share it with—pushes you to reflect on your own priorities without ever turning into a lecture. The tone balances humor, romance, and emotional tension so that you are thinking deeply but still having a good time watching these characters figure things out.
I didn’t fully understand the curtains for day and night. That is truely the only thing lost on me. They made it a great focal point and not 100% maybe so people just don’t stay in the junction not sure.
